Departmental Student Awards

Current departmental awards available for graduate students are listed below with descriptions:

Beca Sechter Award

This excellence award will be presented to the top graduate teaching assistants working for mathematical statistics-related classes.  The award comes with a certificate and a cash prize.

Best First-Year Graduate Student Award

This award is given to the top first-year student(s) in the categories of applied statistics, mathematical statistics and computational statistics.  Winners receive a certificate and an extra $200 in travel funds for presenting at a conference.

Best Teaching Assistant Award

Winners receive a certificate and an extra $200 in travel funds for presenting at a conference.

Ralph A. Bradley Award

This award is presented for the best Ph.D. dissertation of the year. Winners receive a certificate and a cash prize.

Stela Verenca Award

This is a travel award for students who present talks at a foreign conference in object data analysis related sessions. The award comes with a certificate and a cash prize.

Yongyuan and Anna Li Award

This award is given to the student who gives the best presentation of the year. Winners receive a certificate and a cash prize.
