Voting Data
Now go to your desktop and double click on the JMP file.
This process will automatically start JMP and display the following dataset.
To calculate a two-sample t test based on the dataset we will begin by clicking Analyze and selecting Fit Y by X.
The following dialog box will appear.
For this two sample t test we will be examining the mean salary between people who voted in last years election and those who did not. Select Did you vote last year? and then press the X,Factor. Next, select what was your salary then and then press Y,Response. Your dialog box should now appear as follows.
Click OK and the following window should appear.
Move and click your cursor on the red arrow next to Oneway Analysis... and select t test.
The following window should appear.
Prob > |t| = .0001 represents the p-value for HA: µY - µN ≠ 0
Prob > t = .0001 represents the p-value for HA: µY - µN > 0
Prob < t = 1.000 represents the p-value for HA: µY - µN < 0
