Now go to your desktop and double click on the JMP file.
This process will automatically start JMP and display the following dataset.
Click the Analyze menu and then select Distribution.
The following dialog box will appear.
Go ahead and click each column Heights of 8th Grades, Car Prices, and IQ Scores, and then click the Y,Columns button.
Your dialog box should now look like the following.
All three histograms will appear and remember to click on Distributions and Stack to stack all three.
Now you will notice that each graph shows some sort of shape. One way in JMP to make these shapes more apparent is to fit a normal curve over each histogram. To do this select the red arrow next to Height of 8th graders, go down to Continuous Fit, and select Normal.
This is what your new histogram should look like:
Finally here are all three histograms after fitting these normal curves: Notice that the first one is clearly skewed to the left, the second is skewed to the right and the last showing a normal distribution.
