The annual chapter meeting was held at the beautiful Student Union building on the campus of The University of Central Florida (UCF) February 6 and 7, 1998. We had 2 invited and 9 contributed papers. DR J.Sethuraman accepted the Florida Chapter Service Recognition Award on behalf of Dr. Fred Leysieffer, FSU.  Thanks to the UCF team led by Dr. David M. Nickerson for a very successful meeting.

The Chapter Business Meeting was called to order by President, Dr. Lora Bohn at 11:45 A.M.  The minutes of The 1997 meeting held at UWF and the treasurer's report were distributed and approved. The balance reported was $1208.22 in the checking account and $2285.77 in the savings account for a total of $3493.99.

The vice president, Dr. Jayaram Sethuraman, did a wonderful job on the chapter web page which can be found at
http://stat.fsu.edu/flasa/index.html.  It was agreed that the vice president will continue to maintain the web page.

The 1999 chapter meeting will be hosted by The University of Florida (UF).  The current four campus rotation list is as
follows: 1994-UF, 1995-FSU, 1996-UNF, 1997- UWF.

The chapter will award a $100 cash donation to the best Student Paper when at least 3 student papers are presented at the
meeting.

The chapter will cosponsor the SPAIG - statistics in partnership with Academic, Industry and Government. Dr Bill Caldwell, UNF, is the chair of the regional meeting.

Dr Bill Wilson,UNF, reported that the AP training statistics course, held under their continuing education program, last
summer was very successful.  The meeting adjourned at 12:20pm.
