Minutes of the 1996 Annual Meeting of the Florida Chapter of the ASA

The Chapter Buisness Meeting was held on Feburary 17, 1996. The meeting
was called to order by Mike Bundrick. Appreciation was expressed to Bill
Wilson and Bill Caldwell for hosting the annual meeting at UNF. The
minutes from the 1995 meeting were distributed and approved. The
treasure's report was given by Lora Bohn. It was reported that, in 1995,
Chapter accounts had been moved from the UCF credit union to First Union
National Bank to facilitate easier access throughout the state.
Ken Portier and Mat Ncube were nominated as candidates for Representative
to the Council of Chapters(1996-1998). Ken Portier was then elected.
Possible Chapter activities were discussed. These included the
Adopt-a-School program, Quantitative Literacy, and Continuing Education
courses. It was recommended that the focus be on middle school students to
avoid duplication of present high school programs.
Jane Pendergast initiated a discussion of the Association's and the
Chapter's presence on the World Wide Web. Reaction to developing a Chapter
home page was favorable. Discussion followed on the possible content for
the page. This included the mission statement, a listing of the Executive
Committee, membership information, meeting information, maps of Chapter
territory, the Chapter constitution, a membership listing, and state job
listings. Possibilities for links include university pages, members'
pages, the Statistics Virtual Library, and the main ASA page. It was
decided that the Vice President would take the leadership role on
development of the web page.
UWF was selected as the site for the 1997 meeting.
The meeting was adjourned.
