FLORIDA CHAPTER OF THE ASA
1999 ANNUAL MEETING IN GAINESVILLE
FEBRUARY 12 & 13, 1999

The 1999 Florida Chapter Meeting will be held Friday and Saturday, February 12 and 13, at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Sessions will begin Friday at 1:00 PM in the Reitz Union, Room 282.  There will be a dinner Friday at 6:00 PM at the University Centre Hotel.  Saturday's sessions will begin at 8:30 AM and will be held in Griffin-Floyd Hall, Room 100.  The annual business meeting will follow.

Contributed papers are welcomed.  To submit a contributed paper, either complete and return the registration form being sent by mail to members of our mailing list or email to lbohn@stat.ufl.edu with a title and abstract.  Students should see the attached announcement about the first annual Student Paper Competition.

Registration for the meeting is $10.  The Friday dinner at the University Centre Hotel is $20 per person.  We need a count of persons attending the dinner by Monday, February 8.  Rooms are available at the University Centre Hotel, 1535 SW
Archer Road (south of campus), 352-371-3333 (or 1-800-824-5637), for a rate of $65 (mention the meeting).  Reservations must be made by January 15 to ensure this rate.  On Friday, we recommend parking at the hotel rather than
on campus.  On campus parking should be available Saturday morning.
 
 


First Annual Student Paper Competition
              Florida Chapter of the ASA

A prize of $100 will be awarded to the best original student paper presented at the 1999 meeting of the Florida Chapter of
the ASA in Gainesville on February 12 and 13, 1999.

A preliminary written draft must be submitted to Dr. Jayaram Sethuraman by January 15, 1999.  Fifteen minutes will be allotted for each of these presentations at the February meeting.  The awarding of the  prize is contingent on at least
three eligible student papers being presented at the meeting.
