§ Application to Department
Applications for fellowships or assistantships should be made to the department. (Application forms can be requested by e-mail to info@stat.fsu.edu or found on the web at http://stat.fsu.edu/graduate/redbook/admission.html.)  You must arrange for three letters of  recommendation from instructors familiar with your academic work to be sent to the Department, along with  a photocopy of your transcripts.  Finally, you should send the Department photocopies of scores on any standardized tests (such as GRE or TOEFL) you have taken.  (Official score notifications and transcripts are required before you can be formally accepted.)

§ Application to Graduate Admissions
Applications for admission to the graduate program of the University should be made to the Office of Admissions, Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida 32306-2400, which will forward the necessary forms and additional material.  Among other requirements, you will need to provide two official copies of your transcripts covering all of your collegiate studies and an application fee of $30.
§ Application Deadlines
Initial decisions on assistantships will be made shortly after February 15th of each year.  Sometimes an assistantship is available beyond this deadline.  Students with a high undergraduate GPA (over 3.6), excellent recommendations, and high GRE scores (over 1350) will be considered for the highly competitive University Fellowships.  These applications must be complete by January 10th.  Earlier deadlines for international students are contained in material sent by the Office of Admissions.

Applications for graduate study are considered at any time, but it is very difficult to develop a useful program of study beginning in any semester except the Fall.

The minimum requirements for consideration for admission to the Department of Statistics for graduate study are the following:

§ Grades
You must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with at least a "B" average.

§ Courses
You must have good grades in a three- or four-semester calculus sequence and preferably a semester of linear algebra. Course work in statistics is helpful, but not required. At least one semester of advanced calculus (intermediate analysis, real analysis) with proofs is needed for timely entrance into the Ph.D. program.

§ Standardized Exams
A score of 1100 on the GRE is the minimal requirement for admission. If your native language is not English, you must score at least 600 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). This is not required if you have received a college degree from an accredited institution in the United States.
